Sunday Thoughts- Getting Ready for SS wk 5

First off:
Correction from Friday.   The DL DU WOD was done in 8:42.  Which I thought was great until MER clocked in Saturday w/ 6:52.  Now my first thought was how awesome it was for MER.  He is a metcon (metabolic conditioning)  machine and he seems to have his DU down pat.  Now for the second thought...

Did I rest too much.  I smoked the first round then took breaks on 2nd and 3rd because I knew the DU were hard to string together when I'm gassed.  Am I too willing to except 'good' and not 'great'.  I contemplated this yesterday as I walked the dog.     SO...   For 2011, the goal is to 'embrace the suck' & 'Get comfortable being uncomfortable'.  This applies to all facets of life.   Looking forward to the next 11 months.

Now for the good stuff.   The videos of the squats.   Better than Wed.   Still a little for/aft action when i hit the bottom.  I'll keep trying to fix it as we go.

  1. Biggest thing I learned over the weekend for the squat was knees should follow toes outward on the way down. The knees have a tendency to want to dive in as you go deeper in the squat. I usually have a bit of knee pain with squatting, but didn't feel it at all as we drilled the squat form at the course. This of course is hard to see from the side. Looks like you are at least parallel if not slightly below. Chest is pretty vertical which should help keep the curve in the back...and I don't notice your heels come up at all. Looks pretty good Joe.
